Well, you can't be at every show in the world, and it especially pains us that we couldn't get out to the great state of Idaho for the Braun Brothers Reunion. Anyway, our gopher Sheila is there, and files this report... -Ben
Challis is probably around 1000 people but is bursting at the seams for this weekend. It was a struggle to book a room in January…seriously. Majority of the crowd is Idahoan but lots of out-of-staters too. I am always impressed they made the drive. It’s a four-plus hour drive from Boise so anywhere further takes lots of dedication. Props to you all! Cell service is questionable and really isn’t a doctor nearby (just ask Randy Roger’s Band guitarist, Geoffrey Hill. He needed stitches and alas there was no one to do the stitching) but the fun never ends.
The street dance is no longer (my favorite part) but Muzzie had good reason to make some changes. Like I said, Geoffrey Hill needed stitches. Some punk-ass kid threw a bottle at the stage
and hit him in the head. Glad they found the kid and hope he got his ass royally kicked! A few ruin it for many…anyways, that will be different but I’m still very excited. The line-up is fantastic! Both Reckless Kelly and Micky and the Motorcars will be of course playing, as well Muzzie, The Original Braun Brothers, seasoned veterans, Cross Canadian Ragweed, and George Devore. Randy Rogers Band is making their second appearance, hooray! New to the line-up this year are Stoney LaRue and Ray Wylie Hubbard (There are more artists! Check out braunbrothersreunion.com for the complete line-up). Bummer on the cooler pass being axed but I am still ready to rock like its nobody’s business. It is going to be three days of pure awesome-ness.
I’ll be in the Braun Brothers Muzzball Scramble Golf Tournament and I am absolutely terrified. I mean, no one wants to shank it too bad. We’ll see how that goes. I have a feeling Bloody Mary’s will be a necessity.
Starting off this funfest in Boise, Ray Wylie Hubbard is playing at Alive after Five then off to the Big Sleaze…err I mean, The Knitting Factory, for Micky and the Motorcars, Randy Rogers Band and Cross Canadian Ragweed. It might seem excessive but as my personal motto goes, Go big or go home and this week I’m going big!
