Did we make our Kickstarter goal? YES, by 105%!!! I am a bit bleary eyed this morning from watching the incredible eleventh hour activity last night, as we were coming upon the deadline. It was amazing to sit and watch the community rally. Thanks to each and every one of you for your generous contributions to support our Spring Marathon at Threadgill’s. We are both humbled and thankful. Though it is hard to let go, at some point, you just have to let it fly into the universe and hope for the best.
For three years we have been, for the most part, self-funded to bring you magical Americana moments. Why? Because we believe in this music and these artists. Why else? Because the old music delivery system has broken down. But there is a growing ability to bring the music directly to you. One by one. Person to person. Communication is what it is all about. We have a smoldering torch song for you today, ‘cause we are just in that kind of mood.
Eilen Jewell put this on her Queen of The Minor Key CD in 2011. It is a sultry and noir tune, that could have appeared on a soundtrack to a detective movie in the 50’s. Eilen (pronounced E-lin) brought her ace band; Jerry Miller on electric, Johnny Sciascia playing bass, and Jason Beek on skins and back-up vocals. You can see them in Piermont, NY tomorrow, and there a few dates listed after that. Here is the delicious, shimmering Music Fog version of “Only One” from our Spring Marathon last year at Threadgill’s in Austin. (And I am booking this year’s as we speak, thanks to all of you!)
