I was valiantly trying to get to DC to go hang out at The Mansion on O for the Mary McBride show, now cancelled with the impending SNOWPOCALYPSE event this weekend in the Northeast. I now must watch from afar...but what I was planning was to stay up all night, go to the airport for the first flight out, and try to beat the snow. I was going to blog it, your trusty reporter, on site, delayed and eating Fritos at the airport for an interminable period, with some clothing bunched up under my head to nap away the hours. Alas, I will have to leave the snow reporting to Beans, Aaron, and Chris. Beans is making a Ken doll type snowman already, I think its name is Pat. Aaron is doing up a pot of chili.
I had promised I would check out the John Cowan track "East Meets Wes," but I expected to be writing about it in transit in the middle of the night, and here I am on the couch in the evening. No matter what time you watch, this is magnificent. You know there are virtuosos among us. There are articulate, inspired artists that could go nose to nose with anyone, anywhere. "East Meets Wes" features some mighty sophisticated jazz picking. It will transport you WHEREVER you want to go, even though you might not be able to get there this weekend!
