Oh boy, the countdown to Christmas is upon us, and the rush to get it all done is heating up. It is quite the list: Shopping for gifts, planning and prepping meals, making travel plans. And in the midst of all of this, WMOT Roots Radio is planning an all day festival, Gatlinburg Mountain Tough, to support the folks who were impacted by the Smoky Mountains fires. This coming Saturday, we will be broadcasting from 10am to 10pm CT on 89.5 in Nashville, and webcasting on Music City Roots. And you can listen on the Roots Radio app for iPhone and Android.
Joining us are Zac Brown, Sam Bush, Sarah Potenza, Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, Jim Lauderdale, Randy Kohrs, Mo Pitney, Chelle Rose, RB Morris, Chuck Mead, Jason D. Williams, and a whole lot more. It is going to be an amazing day, as we get folks to return to downtown Gatlinburg, because tourism is such an important economic engine there. Join us if you can, or listen and watch if you can't make it. And I hope you can donate something to help these folks rebuild their lives.
Today's video is appropriate for managing expectations, whether holiday related or not. It comes from Ward Davis who is presently out on the road with Cody Jinks. Let me tell you there are some dang good songwriters here in Nashville. You know that, but it remains true. So get to know Ward, as he tasks his whiskey to "Get To Work". Please be careful this holiday season and don't drive after partying. Call an Uber, have a designated driver ready, walk. And have a Happy Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc, etc.
