Today melts into tomorrow. HalleyAnna and the Tennessee Volunteers and friends came to Threadgill's on Tuesday night and played a sweet alt-country set. I went over to the Continental Club, which was hopping with a retro 80's band with the clever name of Motel Aviv, and then our rock and roll princess friend Ruby James blew the doors off. Ahhh, such as it is with my rock and roll lifestyle. Then I jumped a plane to Colorado to attend the FMQB AAA Conference. Lots of bands playing here of every description. Life is a banquet!
Music Fog had lots of musical flavors for the tasting when we did our Marathon last March at Threadgill's. Today we bring you a tune from Ha Ha Tonka, who simply blew us away a couple of months ago when they played for our cameras. Good things are happening for them, including upcoming performances at Mountain Stage and ACL Music Festival. They have been ripping it up around the country, bringing their particular brand of joy, triangulated by a bottle and a bible. We bring you a song they are covering today that was covered by Big Smith. It was written by their cousin Scott Young of Red Meat (yes, they did it too.) Amazon has an exclusive version of Ha Ha Tonka's version for download. But here's the Music Fog version of "12-Inch 3-Speed Oscillating Fan." Cool.
