Two Of Our Brothers Need Our Help

Duane Jarvis
I met DJ at Gavin in Lake Tahoe around ten years ago. First at a jam session in the lodge where I was blown away by him, and then at the after party when we were listening to his then new album “Far From Perfect.” And so a friendship was born. I was living in Nashville, and working for Gavin Magazine as the Americana Editor which meant two things: My office had an open door policy, and I was out every night catching music. DJ came to visit and hang by day, and at night I saw him haunt the same shows that I was heading to. We always especially enjoyed when he took the stage. There was a natural camaraderie, an ease among the musicians that I came to know in the roots world. An egalitarian "all- for-one" mindset that I loved then, and still do today. He opened the door a crack for me to see that world, and I will be ever grateful.

DJ, I am sending love and peace to you and yours.

Tim Krekel

The former Jimmy Buffett sideman, and Louisville, KY mainstay was diagnosed with cancer last week. Yesterday, Webb Wilder sent out an update as Tim underwent extensive surgery earlier this week. The latest news on his condition is good. Doctors feel the cancer was removed, and that they expect Tim to make a good recovery.

Tim has already been up and out of bed, and is moving from the ICU to a regular hospital room at University Hospital in Louisville. His family is asking that, for now, we all be discouraged from visiting or calling the room. Tim will need all of his energy for a fast recuperation. They also would appreciate it if people did not send flowers or food to the hospital. If you would like to send a card or letter, that would be wonderful.
Here is the address:

Tim Krekel
C/O University Hospital

We are trying to find out if there is a fund being set up for his medical expenses, and will pass that along to you when we have it. Meanwhile, prayers are welcome, I am sending mine.
