The Trip, Part 3

“If I can’t find her in West Helena, she’s in East Monroe, I know”……Robert Johnson

The last object in the house was the cowboy hat that I purchased in Santa Barbara when Kissy Black and I Jess01 went to the Gram Parsons Tribute produced by Polly Parsons and Shilah Morrow. It is with me in the car, and that’s a good think because it’s been days of no makeup and road food from convenience stores. Now I must say, these stores have life, action, and amazing aromas wafting out. They are seemingly the hub of some of the towns we have stopped in. They are no longer on Main Street, but they satisfy the same need. We stopped yesterday in Indianola, MS for maybe the most amazing Oyster Po’ Boy I ever had. Gossamer light, melt in your mouth, and then there was a chocolate dessert. Now if you are going to do sugar, Mississippi gets it right. We also stopped for a walk around ancient Indian Mounds, and caught Sunset over the Mississippi at Warfield. My IPOD is cranking along in the C’s now. It Jess02 has been uncanny in capturing moods and vistas, with just the right musical accompaniment. Ahhh random! House is on the market. One more day of hard driving. Hope to make Austin tonight.

World's Largest Guitar Pull

Guitar pull 2 The folks over in Luckenbach have achieved world-wide greatness...they are officially in the Guinness Book of World Records after hosting their massive guitar pull over the weekend! 1,859 guitar players showed up for this epic event that smashed the German record.

Big props to our girl Abbey for helping to put this historic event together!

The song that broke the record: "Luckenbach, Texas (Back To The Basics of Love)."

From the sound of it, every last guitar was perfectly in tune!

The Trip, Part 2

“...We’d like to help you make your trip." --Country Joe McDonald

Friday night Music Fog was out in force at the Ram’s Head Live in Baltimore’s trendy Inner Harbor to tape The Carolina Chocolate Drops and Donna The Buffalo. A GREAT evening of music, ending with hugs and kisses from the crew as I will connect with the guys somewhere on the road from here on out.

Yes, Music Fog will be continuing to bring you stuff from DC and environs, as well as expanding our horizons in Texas. It has been a whirlwind of goodbyes, last times, final moments, as I sit on the floor in my now empty house. Just a couple of sofa cushions, and of course the flat screen is still set up. Listening to tunes on the iPod, and packing up the last few boxes.

This whole thing is somewhat like having a baby….you get to feeling bloated, like you can’t stand it for one more second. And the pain comes. But then there is new life. One just has to get to where it’s in the rearview mirror. I am so thankful for the folks who were sent to me to make this happen. My real estate agent Mike Moran at Remax in Olney, who is totally ‘can do.’ And he assembled an amazing crew: my contractor Dusty Gloeckler and his great guys Marty and Carl, Diana Glenn the organizer, Nick Aggelis, the painter, Sherwood the landscaper. Harrell Lee flew up at Lew Curatolo’s request, and has been coordinating the packing, loading, and stacking, and we are going to caravan to Texas.

Be in Austin by the end of the week, across Tennessee and south through Mississippi. There will be food, music and adventure. A new start awaits...
