Live at The Bluebird Cafe

The Americana Music Association has announced plans for the 2nd annual Live at The Bluebird Cafe concert series. Each Thursday, from February 18th through March 25th, fans can witness some of Americana's most influential musicians in the intimate setting of the world famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. The shows are sponsored by the Gibson Foundation, an organization that supports music and arts in our schools and other important causes.

The series opens with the amazing Raul Malo, and on March 4th "White Trash In Your Living Room" is the theme as Rodney Crowell, Mary Gauthier, Minton Sparks and Elizabeth Cook each take the stage. Music Fog is anxious for Will Kimbrough to perform later in March, too. The full series schedule will be announced soon. For more info pop on over to the Americana Music Association or Bluebird Cafe websites. Save us a seat!

Americana Announces Top 100 Albums of the Year

AMA 10 yr Last year, I had a list from X Country that we were able to post, although we didn't quite make it until the end of the year. So it was an 11/12th's list. This year, we are happy to bring you the Americana Music Association's Top 100. This chart is produced weekly by the association, gathering playlists from the Americana reporting radio stations, shows and syndication from around the country.

Our organization is celebrating its tenth anniversary, and my 2 year tenure as President of the board is coming to an end. This decade has brought much change to the music industry, as well as seen much growth as Americana works its way into being a household name. Certainly the artists are worthy of it. We were so excited to see the youth explosion at this year's Americana Festival in September. And it is wonderful to see how many legendary artists sit under the Americana banner as well. Music with a roots sensibility that honors the past while it advances it into the future. I am so proud to be associated with these amazing folks!

Pass Me That Stoli Box

Firewater04 ...I need to write down this song! The Americana Music Association has a very cool online auction benefit running that features handwritten song lyrics up for bid. This afternoon is your last chance to take home any one of these amazing pieces of music history. A very cool recent addition is the handwritten lyrics to "Firewater" from Butch Hancock, written on the back side of a torn up Stolichnaya Vodka box! Others are on hotel letterhead, notebook paper, or anything handy. Some are written very neatly, and others include crossed out revisions---they're all as unique as the artists that have donated them to this AMA benefit. Firewater01  You can view all of them by clicking here. The auction ends this afternoon, so place your final bids!
