The Stream Machine, Day 3

Amy LaVereIt was St. Patrick’s Day yesterday, the wearing of the green, and I was. Too much kissing I guess, I woke up yesterday morning with a, how shall we say, malaise, that made it totally impossible for me to get out of bed! Glad we were streaming; I was able to view my window on the Music Fog world from my computer at home during day two of the festivities from Threadgill’s WHQ in South Austin. Wagons, Jonny Burke, Jackson Parten, Maxim Ludwig & The Santa Fe Seven, Dash Rip Rock, Tim Easton, Susan Gibson, Lisa Morales, Stone River Boys, Amy LaVere, Jon Dee Graham, and Rod Picott all performed for us, and we broadcast it all on our website via Ustream. Most of the sets will be archived there for a week or so, then we'll return to delivering the higher quality 'one video at a time' presentation of this incredible group of artists.

Time to get ready for today’s lineup. We did have a cancellation, as Bruce Robison was on call for the movie he is doing with Kris Kristofferson, so we aren’t going to have a performance from him and his wife Kelly Willis. But never fear, Chapin Sisters have stepped up and we will start the day with them.

  • 11:20 AM  Chapin Sisters
  • 12:10 PM  Robert Ellis
  • 12:40 PM  Ron Sexsmith
  • 1:20 PM   Ponderosa
  • 2:20 PM   Deadman
  • 3:20 PM   Jimmy LaFave
  • 4:20 PM   Dave Alvin
  • 5:20 PM   Malford Milligan
  • 6:20 PM   Carolyn Wonderland
  • 7:20 PM   Brigitte DeMeyer

It is a not to miss day three of the Music Fog Marathon, presented by Neustar. See you on the web!

Day 2 from Austin, Watch Live!

We hope you were following the Fog all day yesterday, and what a day it was at Threadgill's WHQ in South Austin. We tested all the equipment Tuesday night, and at 3am we made the call to broadcast live via Ustream with the content we are capturing for posting in the coming days on Music Fog. Where to start? Well, actually, the beginning will do just fine. Yesterday's performances came from: Alessi's Ark, Heidi Spencer, Ian Moore and The Lossy Coils, Uncle Lucius, Brian Wright, Guy Forsyth, Foster & Lloyd, The Civil Wars, Ray Wylie Hubbard, The Trishas, and Citizens Band Radio...and that was just day one! Watch some of the archived sets here, while you're waiting for todays' performances.

Day two dawns at 11:20am CDT from Threadgill's south with a whole new roster of amazing musicians. Thanks to our sponsor Neustar for making all this possible. Here is today's lineup!

Let the Games Begin

Woot! Austin is blossoming with music and possibility. It is a great meeting of the tribe, you know, the tribe that loves music. We are every kind of person, from everywhere in the world, united by this love. And it is all set against the backdrop of the greening of early spring in Texas. Hipsters are abound at the airport, and are spilling out in the street from every club and restaurant in Austin, Texas. The music portion of SXSW® is underway at last. Not that we are part of it at Music Fog, nope, we are unofficial. The Music Fog Marathon starts at 11:10 CDT this morning at Threadgill's (301 W. Riverside) with a full day’s line up, the first of four days, and 44 artists all told. If you're planning on attending in person, there is no cover and no badges are required. Huge thanks to our sponsors Neustar and Threadgill’s WHQ for making this happen.

Here is today’s lineup:

  • 11:10 AM  Alessi's Ark
  • 11:40 AM  Heidi Spencer
  • 12:20 PM  Ian Moore & The Lossy Coils
  • 1:20 PM   Uncle Lucius

Now don’t you go bemoaning your fate if you can’t be with us, because we’re going to be broadcasting most of the Music Fog Marathon LIVE here on our website, via Ustream! You'll be able to watch full live sets this week, and our usual higher quality 'one song at a time' delivery in the coming days here on Music Fog. Also, keep a lookout for our now traditional mascot for this rite of passage into the spring of the new year. Last year’s Pedro has been replaced by this year’s Esteban. He is a handsome specimen. So come on down, or kick back and watch wherever you are. Day One of the Music Fog Marathon is underway!
