Reckless Kelly with Micky Braun "I'll Hold the Bottle"

Every once in a while, a band changes up and does an album that feels like the right thing to do, even if it is a departure from what might be considered the norm for them. Reckless Kelly pays homage to one of their heroes, Pinto Bennett, on their latest project Somewhere In Time, out tomorrow.

Pinto BennettCody Braun commented for All Access Music Group, "We had more fun making this record than we ever have before. Partly because it was a record we have been wanting to make for almost 10 years, and partly because we were in complete control. Another treat for us was having Pinto Bennett and friends in the studio with us for a few days."

Of course, the Reckless Road Trip continues in support of the new CD with lots of Texas dates, and a swing up to NYC! Catch them if you can, but for the meantime, here is one of the tunes from our Steamboat sessions.

Kristen Kelly & Modern Day Drifters "Lost In Yourself"

We kept running into musicians in Steamboat and would usually slide them into a recording session the next day. Kristen Kelly & Modern Day Drifters gave us a call at the prompting of an artist friend of theirs, "You should call Music Fog." So they did. We invited. They jammed. We filmed. Don't you wish life was that easy?! That's the power and magic that is bottled up in Steamboat during the MusicFest. In fact, Kristen became engaged to be married the very next evening! And the hills are alive with the sound of music. Easy now...don't get "Lost in Yourself."

Jason Eady "Wishful Drinking"

I love some blues with my twang, and if you throw in a drink or two you've got a real tune to savor! Jason Eady & the Wayward Apostles deliver just that with this laid back groove about thoughts that spin in your head during those introspective times that often follow a few pulls. Jason will be visiting some more cities he "doesn't know," and some he does, as he's getting back out on the road for the new year. Check tour dates at his website then hit a show! Meanwhile, here's to "Wishful Drinking."
