Ruby James "The Predictable Kind"

JDSouther-RubyJames-JessieScott Her name is Ruby, and her hair is also. She cuts quite the figure and her voice is as striking as she is. Ruby James has a new album coming, Happy Now, produced in Austin by Charlie Sexton, and with Will Sexton and Mike Thompson on it. Having heard the CD, I can tell you it is lush and beautiful. We had her on the bus solo, though, and fortuitously, she followed JD Souther, which was just a magic moment. Pictures were taken, hail, well met. Here is a song from the CD, which is not yet out, but we love to bring you stuff ahead of the box. "The Predictable Kind." Amen.

Gabriel Kelley "You Kill Me"

Gabriel Kelley Gabriel Kelley and his band The Reins are on a roll. They've picked up management, agency representation, and a songwriting deal since moving to Nashville in 2007, and delivered a six song EP Light at The Bottom in 2008. The new EP is called Stranded In Nashville and is being released on Dualtone digital in the next couple of weeks, as is Light At The Bottom.

They played the Americana Fest with quite a buzz on the full band set at Third & Lindsley, however, we did a solo Gabriel Kelley session, and that is real satisfying too. Here's one of the new songs, "You Kill Me."

The Trishas "Must Be Time"

The Trishas The Trishas have become women of mystery. Managers have been spotted circling outside their home turf zip code. They joined Raul Malo, at his request, on stage at The Continental Club in Austin after ACL this past Sunday. Are they having the time of their lives exploring the union they have made with each other, and pondering where it will take them next? Sure hope so!

I can hardly wait to see what's in store...but in the meantime, here is "Must Be Time" from the bus, filmed a couple of weeks ago in Nashville.
