Reckless Kelly in Charlotte

RecklessKelly
The guys from Reckless Kelly continued their east coast run with a stop in Charlotte, NC at the Neighborhood Theatre last night. This is an intimate venue in what is referred to as the North Davidson Arts District. It is always a treat for bands from the Texas/Red Dirt music scene to make their way east and hopefully they felt the love from the crowd. The band’s original bassist, Chris Schelske, has returned to the group and he fit in well on stage with the guys.

They started with a couple of tunes from their latest record and then continued with several old RK favorites that really got the crowd into the show. The traditional interlude during Hey Say May was an Albert Collins cover, I Ain’t Drunk. David Abeyta did a superb job as always with the lyrics and was well received by the crowd. The cover of Joe Ely’s Cool Rockin’ Loretta was a treat which then lead into a rendition of Castanets. Drummer Jay Nazz was highlighted on this tune and he did an awesome job. The guys closed it out with a drum/guitar solo from Jay and David which then led into Revolution and the crowd fave Crazy Eddie’s Last Hurrah. Overall, a great show and many thanks to the guys for bringing their music here for us to enjoy!
