Shelley King "Welcome Home"

This was one of those sessions that caught me by surprise, and completely blew me away. I remember looking over at Chris, our lighting engineer, as Shelley was belting out this song and I mouthed the word, "DAMN!" to him. I was completely drowning in her powerful, bluesy vocals, as the passion and presence was knocking me upside the head! Goosebumps were traveling all across the back of my neck, and I'm happy that nothing was lost in the translation from live to video, because I still get them as I watch and listen to this today. Sweetness.

Shelley and subdudes Welcome Home is the title track from Shelley King's new album, which just came out this week, and the project is chock full of rich harmonies and wide sonics that will just melt you. She collaborated with her long-time musical heroes Tim Cook, John Magnie, and Steve Amedée (members of the subdudes) on this CD, which resulted in a marriage that absolutely leaves you wanting more. Sit back in your easy chair, nurse a fine beverage, close your eyes, and Welcome Home.
