Reckless Kelly "Weatherbeaten Soul"

Every so often, you catch a sight of a photo, or see footage on television or in the movies that just makes you yearn for a trip. This time, it is the Rocky Mountains, and it set my mind to reeling. I love being up that way in the winter, but I have to say it feels mighty fine on the skin in the summer, too.

One thing I haven’t yet attended is the Braun Brothers Reunion in Challis, Idaho. Drat, I missed it again this year, as it gets underway today. It is a stellar lineup in an Idyllic location with food, friends and music, music, music! The artists on the roster for this year are crazy good! Jerry Jeff Walker, Bruce Robison & Kelly Willis, Cody Canada & The Departed, The Damn Quails, Jason Eady, Joe Ely, Django Walker, Cody Beebe & The Crooks, Sons Of Bill, and more! Not to mention also playing are the Original Braun Brothers – dad Muzzie and company, plus the younger Braun brother bands, Reckless Kelly and Micky & The Motorcars.

So why, I ask, are you and I sitting at home? What a party, but then whenever these guys are around, it’s a good time, indeed. There are lots of chances to catch Reckless Kelly if you aren’t going to Challis, Idaho this weekend.  We hosted Cody Braun, Willy Braun and Jay Nazz of Reckless Kelly at the Spring Music Fog Marathon in March at Threadgill’s WHQ. The tune today has travel woven into the heartbreak. “Weatherbeaten Soul” can be found on the latest Reckless Kelly album, Good Luck & True Love. Here is the Music Fog version.
